A few weeks ago, I got the pleasure to go to the Wunderkids by Jacqueline Silvester Book Launch Party. This was my first Book Launch so I was equally excited and nervous, thankfully I could count on my new Book Blogger friends to not fly solo at this party. Once again I was reunited with Paige and Nicola, and we had such a great time (one of us was having a little more fun than the others, not going to point fingers *cough* Nicola * cough*)
The launch party was hosted at The Workers Cafe in Kingsland Road, when we arrived the space was decorated with Wunderkids books, fairy lights, flowers and a table set up with meringues. As the evening went on the food started coming out and it was pretty delicious, well it was for me not so much for the girls. Basically I had the chance to try oyster for the first time and there was also this prawns on a stick that had been barbecued and I may have ate about 7 of them. #SorryNotSorry
Thankfully for the girls there was some amazing cupcakes to go for, and yes I only ate one of them!
We had a chance to talk with Jacqueline a few times about her book, how the next one has been written already, how she hopes it gets translated into more languages, and how we both agree that even though it will be lovely to see Wunderkids being adapted to the screen, most book to screen adaptations aren’t that good. So for now let’s just keep it as it is.
Overall, my first book launch was pretty awesome. We left the event very happy, some more than others (*cough* Nicola *cough*). I got to meet some other lovely bookish people, and after talking with Jacqueline I got even more excited to read Wunderkids. Have you noticed how chunky it is! Perfect!
